I ‘Liked’ Laura Shapiro’s Studio Furniture page on Facebook utterly some time ago when a crony endorsed it (some of her pieces had llamas on them and he knew I’d adore them).  He owns a few pieces and we have no doubt, will be adding more.  we am anxious that she let me embody her as a guest here – we am a vast fan!

Laura Shapiro Studio Furniture is handmade forged and embellished organic art. we cut and figure timber with energy collection and machines that we operate, and do all a construction myself. I’ve had to explain many times over a years that we build all my pieces. If we was a guy, this wouldn’t be an issue, yet as I’m not, it infrequently is. I’ve been operative in timber given 1986, offered my pieces to galleries around a nation and during juried excellent qualification shows to private collectors. Most of my sales now come from people who see my work online (on FB and Etsy).

I changed to a Catskills in 1989. My studio is on a vast equine plantation that I’ve been renting for a past 6 years, where we live with 4 horses (3 are mine), lots of wildlife and assent and quiet, all of that has helped fuel my work. I’ve never had to wait for inspiration. Having horses during home – caring, training and roving them – for a past 20 years is a lifestyle, a kind of daily use that helps keep me grounded. Something I’ve beheld over a years is that being around horses and operative in a studio both direct a lot of a same things – focus, fluidity, attention, balance, invention, invention and devotion. And they both need to occur but distractions.
